The company was ranked 9th in the first global ranking of Best Companies for Remote Workers
September 8, 2021 - Vertical City is proud to announce that we have been selected as part of Quartz's Best Companies for Remote Workers 2021. Quartz is a digitally native news organization with a mission to make business better. Their journalists around the world specialize in analysis of the global economy for an audience of purpose-driven professionals. This inaugural awards program was produced in partnership with Doist and Best Companies Group and sought to recognize companies that have embraced the new work dynamic brought on by the 2020 pandemic.
"We're thrilled to be recognized by Quartz as a Best Company for Remote Workers" said Ashley Thompson Daly, Vice President, People for Vertical City.
"I believe that it's our (simple) workplace philosophy that has enabled us to create such an appealing and effective environment for remote workers. We believe that smart, passionate people can do amazing things when they are clear on the objectives. Smart, passionate people and teams, with clear objectives, know what they need in order to do their best work. We want to empower our people to do their best work by providing flexibility around where and when they do it. The processes and decisions around how we do the work flows from that fundamental philosophy."
Quartz describes how the program was developed:
"As the remote revolution unfolded—slowly at first, and then all at once—Quartz sought to recognize companies that are already embracing our distributed-workforce future. We invited employers to apply for recognition in the first global ranking of the best companies for remote workers, and worked with independent research firm Best Companies Group to conduct a two-part survey of each applicant, one involving the employer and the other its employees.
The surveys assessed company practices and measured employee satisfaction in areas including leadership, pay and benefits, training and development, corporate culture, communication, and overall engagement. The survey scores determined our rankings, which comprises three lists separated by employer size. Scroll down to see all 54 of the small, medium, and large companies we recognized; then scroll just a bit further for more about the methodology we used."
