About Vertical City:

Vertical City is a venture-backed start-up that is changing how urban condo communities communicate with residents. We’ve grown from a small regional player to the largest in Canada in our niche, and now we’re poised to expand into the US.

We have two primary products:

  • Screen software & hardware that enables effective property communication
  • Out-of-home advertising that integrates machine intelligence and programmatic targeting.

You will be working on both products, but starting with our property communication product.

In this role, you'll report to the Director of Product. Day to day you'll work independently and with stakeholders in other departments (Sales, Customer Experience, etc). As the first member of our Marketing team, you must be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects without a “traditional” way to do it. This is a job for people who want a lot of control on how they execute. We’re not here to micro-manage!  

This role has a heavy written ability component.  We need someone who can understand our product value propositions, boil them down to the simplest concepts, and communicate them across multiple channels. 

Our Product Goals: 

Our current product vision is to become North America’s premier screen communication platform that improves the lives of building residents, elevator riders, property managers, and advertisers.  We’re doing this by transforming digital screens in buildings across the continent into communication hubs. 

As the product marketer for our team, you’re going to be a key member to achieve some of our near term goals:

  • Supporting the launch of our Property communication product into the USA this year
  • Supporting the launch of our advertising product into the USA this year
  • Helping us redefine our brand value propositions for our property and advertising products to align with this new chapter of our growth

About The Role:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Director of Product Management and leadership team to develop and execute product launches and GTM strategy
  • Value Propositions - Developing and improving the positioning of our products. Create consistent positioning statements, messaging and the associated proof points.
  • Product Releases - Communicating the vision and benefits of new product releases to partners, users, and sales teams. Examples of required work include: case studies, blog posts, how-to videos, FAQs, social media posts and newsletters to inform users and partners of product features, updates, and uses
  • Sales Enablement - Managing the creation of sales tools (e.g. battle cards, demos, sales presentations, sales enablement materials) to enhance the onboarding and sales process
  • Internal Education - Understanding and supporting our sales channels; training them on the problems we solve for our buyers and users; developing internal tools and external collateral and teaching them how and when to use it.
  • User Research - Performing research through user interviews, surveys, and analysis of user/ sales data
  • Data Analysis - Analyze sales data and channel information and then create plans to improve product adoption. Assessing the effectiveness of the marketing programs that support your products on an ongoing basis.
  • Testing new products and services to gain a personalized experience

You Have:

Education:

  • Diploma or degree in Business, Marketing or related field

Experience:

  • 5 years of marketing experience, with ideally an emphasis on digital marketing or product (Marketing ideally at an advertising or SAAS business)

Required competencies/knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting skills
  • Proven ability to work independently when executing marketing projects
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. The ability to influence and work collaboratively with sales, marketing and Product Management is especially important
  • Enthusiastic about learning new platforms, technologies, and marketing systems,
  • Proficient in productivity applications such as Asana, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, or similar tools.
  • Familiar with marketing automation tools such as Zapier, Intercom, Segment
  • Comfortable using collaboration and CRM tools such as Slack and Salesforce.
  • You are eager to give and receive feedback

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in the out-of-home advertising space
  • Experience working directly with sales teams
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud will be seen as an asset
  • Experience with landing page copywriting will be seen as an asset
  • Proficiency with Webflow will be seen as an asset
  • Proficiency with Intercom will be seen as an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/Spanish) will be seen as an asset
